"An Everyday Scrap" with classic excited dog and cat scene that's prized and cherished among top advertising collectors! From the attic of an old general store "Wendelkins" founded in 1868 in Marietta Ohio comes this great item (before the place burned down a few years back) It had some restoration when I found it, like the replaced door, etc. It has a good underside forattaching hinges or a possible original door (like the one seen on recently in "sold" listings) unlike the other recent bow wows that were beyond repair, that sold for big bucks here. I finally got around to repairing the bottom to where it'sfunctionable, and now it's ready to be put back in service. (There is a piece of cardboard wrapped with foil in the bottom to provide a clean surface --as the old oxidized bottom is not sanitary for foodstuffs. Like loaves of bread for example)Measures 18 wide x 14 deep x 12 inches tall.I was going to stencil on) letters from the local office supply or have a sign painter add "HONEST SCRAP" to the door and use it as a bread box on my kitchen counter. Note; the white reside around the brass knob, plus on the wood door and on top the box is merely accumulated dust and will wipe off without much effort to reveal a smooth surface. The powder post beetle holes in the wood arephony. Someone suggested attaching the door to the box. I will leave that option to the next owner who could make that decision to their liking. Naturally screws can be used on the wood door panel and aadhesive product like an epoxy glue, JB weld, or even a simple hot glue gun would make a good strong bond for attaching the hinges to the underside, yet be able to be removed if an original replacement is desired at a later point.
