Description

This is an amazing Augustine and Rosalie Pinto signed mosaic inlay Mud Head Necklace. A wonderful feature is that the length could be shortened to suite you taste by just fastening the hook into a different place. The weight of all three pieces is just over 32 grams and that is just over 1 Troy Ounce. It is in very good condition and you will notice from the pictures that it hasmoderate tarnish and little wear after being worn over the years. There are no missing pieces, no chips, and no damage that I could find of any kind. The center medallion and two hanging accents are well proportioned. The center medallion is just over 2.55 inches (including the 5 hanging ornaments).

This is signed with the Hallmark ARP shared by Augustine Pintoand his wife Rosalie. Augustine was born in 1921. He worked in jewelry from before 1966 until at least 1975. He died in 2002. Rosalie became active in jewelry in 1975. This bears the correct Pinto Hallmark. It can be clearly seen on the back of the center piece. The Pintos (and now their daughter Beverly Etsate) are quite famous for their distinctive hand-carved mosaic inlay work. Please, take the time to use the magnified picture feature to examine the remarkable contour achieved on the Mud Head figures and how animated they appear to be!

This is what is considered a \"Book Piece\" in the trade. It is not the exact item pictured in the included book that will be shipped to you separately, but serves as a reference example and may be enjoyed by you in your library as part of your jewelry collection. The book is asterisked below and is in good condition with the exception of a pen inscription of the store where it was purchased. It is a bit of a rarity.

This Pinto Mud Head Necklace is a real treasure and would represent an investment in a remarkable heirloom made my a master of Zuni jewelry couple. There is evidence of only light wear. This was very well cared for. It is a remarkable value if it is right for you!

Thank You!
