Very Fine Silver And Varley Enamel? Casket By Willam Hutton 1902:
avery finesilver & enamelled humidor or jewell casketby william huttoninset with an enamel plaque with a woodland scene very much like the varley plaques use by liberty & co,it is in very fine condition and retains its cedar wood lining in good order,there is no discernable damage or restoration to the enamel,it was probably made to be sold through various high end retailers the like of liberty & co,connells of cheapside etc,there were several designers using this medium of design and decoration during this era,amongst those the most notable were,jessie m king,archibald knox,murrle bennett(all of whom produced designs for the cymric range of silverware for liberty's)charles hornerand james fenton.this ranks along side those in both design and quality of manufacture.it measures 4.75" x 3.5" x 2.5 highfully markedwith the assay office marks for birmingham,date letterc for 1902,the base has been refelted at some point and is a little shabby,please feel free to ask any questions and i will reply within 24hours.postage is byspecial delivery in the u.k and airsure or signed for to international destinations.
