Here is a gorgeous powder compact that was made by Stratton. It has a deep blue enameled lid that shows a pair of swans. This is the kind ofenamel that reflects lighter-colored rays. When you tilt the compact in your hand, the blue rays seem to move.

The compact measures about 3 and 1/8th inches in diameter.This is the type of compact that was called a convertible compact because it could accommodate either loose powder or pressed powder. Simply remove the fine-mesh powder screen if you were going to insert a pan of pressed powder, or leave it in place as a semi-permeable lid for any loose powder underneath.

The latches and hinges work perfectly, and the interior is very clean, possibly never used. The only issue with this compact is the mirror, which has significant all-over hazing in a speckled pattern, as seen in the eleventh and twelfth photos.I think it may havebeen caused by small moisture dropletsunderneath the glass that tried to evaporate. You may wish to replace the mirror unless you are getting the compact primarily as a display piece for its lovely blue lid.
