Vintage Child's Apron Early 20th Cen. Fragile Fabric, One Of A Kind Handmade:
This apron is an example of the kind of toy/tool that would have been made for a young girl in the early 1900's. It was probably made by her mother or another relative so that she could dress like mama while she helped in the kitchen. The item shows signs of wear especially around the area where the straps attached to the apron. The front of the apron was probably made from re-purposed dresser scarves. The hand embroidery is also showing a lot of wear as can be seen in the photos. Indeed, some of this wear may have been the reason these pieces were used for this apron. The butterfly with flower motif was a common one. Also, at this time, most homes had a sewing machine and you were considered wise to reuse what you had rather than buy new.
