original antique primitive folk art painted new England militia federal tin drum canteen with eagle & shield in very good used rare find condition as shown. the canteen dates from the time of the revolutionary war through the war of 1812 era and very early new England militia years to about the 1820s. fantastic canteen find for you never see these early tin drum canteen\'s painted. had many of them over the years and there usually just plain tin without paint. so if you like the best of the best and the rarest of the rare than this canteen is for you. there are a couple of small dents and very small pin holes in the tin and small spots of paint loss as you can see. the canteen diameter is approx. 5 inches with a loop on the backside for attaching to a belt or cross strap. nice blue paint with a red border three painted stars with a black outlined painted eagle & shield.
