Here is your chance to own a huge family grouping that spans pre WW1 through the Second World War. The lot consists of both William H. Maclean and Sgt. Ward A. Maclean. There are photos of both men in uniform. This listing is a true time capsule of American military history. Has not been researched.
Sgt. Ward Maclean was part of the 22nd New York Engineers, Company G. The majority of what all is here are the early medals and paper you see in the photos. The earliest date from the medals I believe is 1912. There is also a Mexican Border Patrol badge that is dated 1916. The 22nd Engineer war games medals are right around WW1 era. Most everything is marked Sterling silver. Most of the newspaper clippings deal with McAllen, Texas and where he was stationed prior to the US entering the First World War, as border patrol. The postcards are addressed to his wife.
William H. Maclean (Army no. 1713511)was of the 304th Field Artillery. Includes his promotion document dated Jan. 10, 1918 from Private to Sgt. Medical Department. Also Included are his Verdun medal with document and his WWI Victory medal with document. It appears that William re-enlisted during World War Two. According to the included promotion document, as of July 1, 1942 he was given the rank of Corporal with the temporary Company B of the 57th Signal Battalion. August 1, 1942 he was promoted again to Technical Sgt. 5th grade according to another promotion document. Both are hand signed by Major Richard J. Meyer. There is also his honorable discharge papers dated May 10, 1919 - his field service cap is there with "57" disc on it. There is a three place ribbon bar with European campaign ribbon, WW1 Victory medal, and Good Conduct medal. We have a Marksmanship badge pair with "field artillery" hangers and some DUI's as well as a WW2 Victory medal.
Miscellaneous items include a WW1 Italian Victory medal, a 106th Infantry medal dated 1920, a religious medal, personal letters, an overseas deployment banner and WWI era keepsake pillow case. If you are looking to zoom in on something try the hosted images rather than Auctiva. I am thinning down my collection and this grouping deserves to get into better hands that will appreciate it for what it is. I want to keep these items together.
