G-d ! What's up??
We have been asked numerous times why is the "o" always missing when the words G-d or L-rd are written on our High Holy Days on the Net website?
Basically its because Jews do not write the name G-d or L-rd. It has to do with the commandment about taking G-d's name in vain. It is believed that if the name was written on a piece of paper and the paper was crumpled, discarded, or destroyed it would be considered a sin.
When I first created the site I figured that most of our visitors would be Jewish and would already understand it. But over the years I have found that many visitors did not know the reason, so I thought it would be helpful to put something on the site explaining it.
