Original late-1840s quarter-plate (1/4) daguerreotype of a group of people - 15 in all - identified as the Phippen Family. Group shot daguerreotypes with this many sitters are pretty hard to find, and especially when they are identified.
To the left of the group are a couple of photographer's posing stands
Housed in its original leather case is about 4.75" x 3.75" when closed. It is in very good antique condition, with its hardware intact, though the halves are separated along the spine and the inside left side rail is loose.
