Quarter-plate, 1840s daguerreotype of an older man with a cane or walking stick in his hand. Velvet mat is impressed with "ROOT 4 CHESTNUT St. PHILAD.", and an old sticker on the back states it was by Marcus Aurelius Root. Possibly a politician or other important figure of the period.
Dag is unsealed some mat abrasions, but is in overall very good antique condition. Underside of the glass could use cleaning. Case has a taped spine.
