Elvis Aaron Presleywas an American singer and actor. Regarded by historians as the most significant cultural icon of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the“King of Rock and Roll.”Elvis Presleyis the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music. He won three competitive Grammy Awards, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame.

On March 24, 1958, Presley was drafted into the U.S. Army a day dubbed by the media as“Black Monday”as a private at Fort Chaffee, near Fort Smith, Arkansas. His arrival was a major media event. After training, Presley joined the 32nd Armored “Spearhead” Division of the United States Army stationed in Friedberg, Germany. Before leaving for active duty on October 15, 1957 Elvis Presley reissued his1951Elvis’ Christmas Album,the single best selling Christmas album of all time in the United Stateswith color photos of him in his army uniform.

Sales of this album total more than 20 million copies worldwide. Elvis returned to the United States on March 2, 1960, and was honorably discharged three days later with the rank of sergeant.

This extremely rare vintage certified mail receipt was hand signed by Elvis Presley while serving in the 32nd Armored Division in Germany and dated June 29, 1959. The original vintage Christmas card featuring Elvis in his U.S. Army uniform was mailed from Elvis and the Colonel to friends and family in the United States circa. 1959.
