Mardi Gras Crafts for Kids
Even though Mardi Gras celebrations may seem more like adult activities, you can mark this holiday with your family too. Celebrate with a cute craft that kids of all ages can make. Get the whole family in on the artsy action, creating together for the holiday.
Mardi Gras Beads
This is an easy-to-make activity, that can also help kids to work on their fine motor skills. Simply start with a piece of yarn. Tie a knot at one end, then start stringing beads. When you get to the end, loop the necklace together and tie it tight. Repeat to make as many strands as you child wants. While younger kids can help, small beads are potential choking hazards. Always supervise your child during this activity (and while using the necklaces) and never leave beads out or in a place where your child can get a hold of them.
Mardi Gras Masks
Cut card stock paper into ovals. Mark two dots, where each eye will go. Cut the eyes out. Now the mask is ready for your child to decorate. Glue glitter, craft feathers or felt onto the mask. Choose holiday colors, such as purple, green and gold. Punch one hole on each side of the mask, and tie it together with a gold ribbon.
Mardi Gras Macaroni Necklace
If you don’t want to use ready-made beads to create a necklace, make your own. Paint macaroni purple, green and yellow. When the noodles are dry, string them on yarn to create your very own Mardi Grad beads!
