Japanese antique doll of SHOKI the Demon-Queller, Finely modeled and rare Japanese antique figurine of Shoki, the Demon-Queller and the Hero of Japanese poem. Shoki standing and poised in a belligerent stance one hand clutching his sword the other with open palm as sign of warning. The metal sword is removable from the scabbard on his back. His brocade clothes are richly decorated with intricate ornaments. The many ropes Shoki is wearing is for capturing and securing Demons.

This 18” Japanese Shoki or Chinese Zhong Kui is one of most beautifully detailed figures I’ve seen. Purchased at a multimillion-dollar estate in La Canada from a former Bandai executive. Shoki is affixed to a carved wood pedestal base. No markings and no damage. Very rare piece to find outside of the Orient. Highly collectible item of Japanese art.
