Star Wars Framed Canvas Fine Art Collection Force of Life, Power of Death 57x38:
$25000.00

This is a genuine canvas art item (not a movie poster) attached to 3" width wood beams. 57 x 38 in size. This art piece should be recognized by long time, original Star Wars trilogy fans. It is a canvas art piece that was recreated on a limited basis for approval to make poster and/or replica art of he historical piece of art created by its original artist, John Berkey. However, this particular one is one of just a few canvas art pieces made (50) and the actual #1 publisher's proofs "PP" of only 5 created under the commission of Lucasfilms LTD. The PP was then approved by Lucasfilms and a digital copy was made to run the poster production limited print. This fine art was also signed by the artist John Berkey. So who was John Berkey? A true Star Wars long time fan would usually know the answer to this question. To answer, Mr. Berkey was an nationally known American artist best known for the 1976 original concept poster art for the Star Wars original film, A New Hope.Berkey was commissioned by Lucasfilm and 20th century fox in 1976 to provide some of the first poster art for Star Wars. Among this work was a painting which depicted the character Luke Skywalker brandishing a lightsaber, flanked by Princess Leia the robots C-3PO and R2-D2, and a number of Imperial Stormtroopers; in the background is a large figure of Darth Vader looming behind them, a similar composition to the theatrical poster artwork for Star Wars by Tom Jung and the Brothers Hildebrant. When the novelization of the film was published, Star Wars: From the adventures of Luke Skywalker, the United Kingdom edition published by Sphere Books featured cover art by Berkey. (remember the original film was HQ produced in the UK) The painting was also issued as a souvenir poster that was included in the first release of the Star Wars Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by 20th century records. John also did the art work for the 1976 remake of King Kong, Orca (1977), Meteor (1979), Superman III (1983) and Dune (1984). John also worked with Universal on the original concept art for Battlestar Galactica in 1978). John sadly died in 2008 at age 75 by heart failure at his home in Excelsior, MN. I had the great privilege of speaking with John and getting this artist proof piece signed with a silver sharpie in two locations. (photos enclosed). The final prequel movie was John's last hurrah of Star Wars. John then died three years after he signed this beautiful recreated art work of the original Star Wars hard novelization book, well before the original Star Wars movie was released. That is why some of the characters in this artwork is a bit different then the final depiction in the first Star Wars film. This piece was recreated under the guidance of Animated Animations who worked under Lucasfilm LTD. The piece was proudly displayed at the premiere for Revenge of the Sith. The piece was later transferred to the CEO of Animated Animations. Animated Animations was one of the vendor companies who participated with the art process of the Star Wars prequels and Clone Wars (cartoon network) art cells used for the 20 short 5 min episodes. For the last 14 years I have been proud to own the piece in my Law Firm. A true collector of science fiction fine art will appreciate this piece for a life time as it is very high end in the Star Wars collectible universe and you will not find one of the other 4 "PP" canvas art pieces anywhere in the secondary market, let alone signed by the now deceased famous American artist, John Berkey. Certificates of signature proof and authenticity comes with the art piece.
