DIY July 4th Party Decor
You’re getting ready for July 4th. You’ve planned a holiday party, come up with a few cute kids’ crafts and have created a red, white and blue menu. But then you realize something – you forgot the party decorations. The holiday décor is what makes your family picnic or BBQ so very festive. And right now you have nothing. On top of that, it’s the day of the party and you have no time to run out to the store and buy centerpieces, tablecloths and streamers with the stars and stripes on them. What now? Check out these last-minute DIY Fourth of July party décor ideas!
Take the plain white wrapping paper you have sitting around and turn it into a patriotic table runner. Use red and blue permanent markers (if they’re washable markers they could run later on when the food is on the table) and let the kids draw stars across the paper. Design alternating patterns or add in stripes in between rows of stars.
Trace a star shape onto red, white and blue card stock paper and cut the drawings out. Now all you need is a hole punch and some yarn or ribbon. Tie the stars together (in an alternating red, white and blue pattern) and hang them up.
Glue red, white and blue tissue paper pieces to the outside of a reused (washed and dried) glass jar. Add a wash of clear-drying glue and a sprinkle of glitter. When the DIY vase dries, add fresh flowers.
If you don’t have fresh flowers, make a few – in red, white and blue. Stack tissue paper in three’s and cut a wavy circle out. Gather the tissue in the center and wind a green pipe cleaner around it. Fluff, and you have flowers!
