Last-Minute July 4th Art Activity Ideas for Kids
Are you looking for a last-minute July 4th activity idea for your child? If party planning has taken over the pre-holiday days, you can still help your little artist to create a cute craft. Don’t worry if you haven’t had time to shop for a mountain of materials. These art activities are easy to do with items you probably already have at home. And bonus, they all feature a patriotic red, white and blue theme for the Fourth of July!
If you have old worksheets, child-friendly magazines or other loose scraps of paper, you have the materials to make a collage. Start by having your child draw a flag onto a piece of cardboard. Cut red, white and blue pieces of scrap paper or magazines. Your child can glue the papers to the flag drawing, collage-style, to complete the craft.
Patriotic Finger Paint
Make an edible finger painting using jelly, fruit, ice cream and pudding. This project is perfect for toddlers and young preschoolers—who may try to eat their art materials. gather together red, white and blue foods that spread easily (such as raspberry jelly or vanilla pudding). Give your tot a paper plate and let them explore through their sense with the ‘paint’.
Try another collage—this time using fabric instead of torn paper. Collect red, white and blue fabric scraps and repeat the same collage steps!
