I am pleased to offer this piece, it is a bit out of my area of expertise, as I specialize in ancient coins. This is an authentic Revolutionary War Era, Freemason's Amulet, from the Kings Army, also known as the Tories/Tory. My research indicates it may be from, The Kings American Rigiment IV 1776-1783, or from Butlers Rangers 1777-1784. It is very interesting that John Butler, who lead Butlers Rangers in the Revolutionary War, would later go on to help establish the Masonic lodges in Ontario, Canada. And... coincidentally... Ipurchased this amulet from a seller, Mr. Butler of Ontario Canada!This seller did not know much about the amulet and called it an, Antique Freemason Masonic Templar? Wood Jewel Pendant. I would appreciate hearing comments from Revolutionary War experts regarding this piece. After receiving this amulet, I spent some time researching it. I have not seen anything like it, but have found the crown insigna with GR and Roman numeral IV. And I believe it to be an Authentic Revolutionary War antique with the All-Seeing-Eye on reverse side. Likely made of wood, I have not attempted to removed the center piece, as I did not want to damage the item. Its reliquary look, makes a person want to try and look inside, but I doubt it is hollow, opening it, is not worth the risk of damaging it. Measures 30mm in length, 10mm thick. All comments welcome, what do you all think about this item? I would appreciate some help giving this piece a more detailed description. Has anyone ever seen one of these?
