Letter dated May 1, 1924 typed by Viriginia Senator Carter Glass. Shortly after this letter was written Glass appeared on the cover of the June issue of Time magazine. Letters by Glass are rare to find.

This letter was kept byprominent Americanjournalist and historian Mark Sullivan (1874-1952) in his personal files.

Mark Sullivan was considered one of the most widely respected journalists of his day correspondingwith Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. Sullivan was aconfidant to Theodore Roosevelt as well as a good friend and confidant to Herbert Hoover. In addition to Presidents, Sullivan corresponded with many notable politicians, businessmen and literary figures of the day including Arthur Conan Doyle who he was good friends with as well as Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Orville Wright and many other prominent and influential peoplefrom the 1890\'s to mid-1900\'s.

Sullivan wrote and publishedbetween 1926-1935a six volumebook by the title \'Our Times 1900-1925\' which chronicled the social and political history of America from the 1890\'s to 1920\'s.

Sullivan correspondence can be found archived in the manuscript division of the Library of Congress and in the Herbert Hoover Institution Archives.

The letter which is signed in ink by Carter Glass is typed on a sheet of stationery with printed United States Senate letterhead. Stationery dimensions measure approximately 8\"h x 6\"w with typical fold creases, a slight tannish toned spot and the word \'Return\' marked in pencil on the upper right corner.
