Antique NYSE Vintage New York Stock Exchange Market Old Wall NY Street NYC Sign:
$150000.00

Up for sale is the exceedingly rare and historic original circa 1916 porcelain enamel NYC street sign which marked the corner of Exchange Place & New Street, the heart of the historic NYSE. The NY Stock Exchange is surrounded by four street corners... Wall & Broad, Wall & New, New & Exchange Place and Exchange Place & Broad. As almost none of these early signs have survived this is almost certainly a one of a kind piece of history that should be in a museum. This historic sign is made of porcelain enamel over steel and is still in its original heavy cast iron street sign frame along with its original ornate corner piece. As this sign dates to approximately 1916, it was likely standing on the day of the historic stock market crash of October 29, 1929.

This amazing piece of financial and American history stood feet from the entrance to the NY Stock Exchange. Think of the infamous members and financial tycoons who literally walked passed this sign as they entered the Exchange.

As a former Merrill Lynch broker I have been collecting antique Wall Street memorabilia for about thirty five years. This is by far one my most interesting and rare item. I have also listed another amazing Wall Street sign from my collection so please look through my other items. This amazing piece of American financial history measures 24.25" wide, 12.5" tall and 1" thick plus the beautiful ornate corner piece. The overall condition is extraordinary especially considering that it is 100+ years old. I have never attempted to clean or polish the sign. I have chosen to keep it completely original with all of its age and character still intact. The sign is cobalt blue with white-beige lettering. It is free of chips to the porcelain and the enamel still retains a beautiful gloss. The original street sign frame is made of cast iron and has a beautifully weathered steel tone. The overall condition is absolutely remarkable. Since the sign still has its ornate corner piece still attached, the sign can easily stand on a shelf or table. This sign truly does belong in a museum or prominently displayed in the corporate office of a major financial firm.

This museum worthy item spent its life overlooking much of the most significant financial history of this country. I have been able to find a photograph of the sign at the corner of Wall Street & New Street taken on October 29, 1929 during the famed stock market crash, I've included it below. If anyone out there has any early photographs showing the corner of Exchange Place & New Street with a view of this sign, I would greatly appreciate it if they would email me.

One of the most significant pieces of American financial history, this incredible item should be on display in the corporate offices of a major financial firm or on display in a museum.
