I am pleased to offer from my private collection this important antique Imperial Russian Faberge hand carved Obsidian hard stone Gorilla figurine c1890's in original luxury Karelian birchwood presentation box.
This is one of the most rare Faberge Obsidian figurine,amazed with its size and finest craftsmanship.(99% of all Faberge carved figures was small in size between 3 and 5cm). This impressive Gorilla is 8.5cm high(85mm) and 390g heavy!
The Faberge Obsidian figurines was highly priced at sales(price vary $80,000.00-$100,000.00).
(Faberge used different hard stones for his carved figurines like Lapis Lazuly,Jade,Opal etc ,but the Obsidian hard stone was with the highest price among all. A Faberge Obsidian elephant hit the record priceof half million Dollars at Sotheby's sale).

You can see a similar Faberge Gorilla at Bowers Museum.
Also you can see a three time smaller model of Obsidian Mandril monkey sold for 52,500.00GBP (over $60,000.00).

The Gorilla is entirely hand engraved from a massive rock of Obsidian.
Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is an igneous rock.

The Gorilla is decorated with special cabochon cut red crystal glass in the eyes.

It comes with the original fited luxury Karelian Birchwood presentation box,signed in Russian />
Excellent condition-no cracks,chips or any other inperfections.
