Homemade Christmas Tree Crafts
Decorating the Christmas tree doesn’t have to include buying pricey ornaments. This year, try something new. Instead of ready-made decor, have the family help you to craft a tree-full of artsy awesomeness. That’s right. Each family member (including the adults) will help to make the holiday decor and dress the tree. Check out these easy-to-make Christmas tree ornament crafts!
Paper Shape Ornaments
Use card stock paper or cardboard to create shapes. Cut out circles, stars, triangles or any other shape. Punch a hole at the top of each one (using a hole punch). Thread a piece of yarn through the holes and tie it at the ends to create a hanger for the ornaments. Give your family members a choice of decorating choices. This can include tempera paints, glue and glitter, sequins, crayons, markers or other craft supplies.
Paper Garland
Wrap the tree in a garland that the kids create. Cut strips of red and green construction paper. Link the pieces of paper together, taping or stapling them at the ends to create a looped chain.
Craft Stick Ornaments
Glue the ends of craft sticks together to create mini picture frames. Paint the frames red, green, gold or silver. Tie a piece of ribbon around the top craft stick as a hanger. Tape a family photo to the pack of the frame to complete the craft!
