1808 German Jewish Passover Towel Antique Folk Art Lions Birds Judaica Germany:

painted linen, center is delicately crocheted cotton. 46 inches long, 11 inches wide. In beautiful condition except for one small hole at top as seen. No other damage, no repairs. The crocheted cotton that connects the two linen pieces shows a peacock with flowers. The towel states in Hebrew with the blessing over hand washing (which is the purpose of this towel at the Passover Seder), the stages of the Seder, part of the Haggadah, the artist signature "Shlomo son of Chaim Ulfeld", and a dedication "This belongs to the noblewoman Mrs. Sheinla, wife of Rabbi Hirtz of blesssed memory, of Villmar, it was made and completed Tuesday, 2 Adar, 5568 (March 1, 1808).Shown in the second-to-last photo is what I could find on the Jewish community of Villmar, which apparently was extremely small. Shown in the last photo is another towel, for no specified Jewish holiday, in the collection of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
