1851 Abraham Lincoln Handwritten Legal Documents, Signed 5 Times! Official legal document completely handwritten and signed (5 times!) by Abraham Lincoln. Dated in 1851, Lincoln argued a case (Whitley vs. Austin) in Macon County, Illinois before a famous Judge, David Davis. (Lincoln would successfully appoint Judge Davis as a US Supreme Court Justice in 1862. He was also Lincoln's campaign manager in 1860 and administrator of his estate after the assassination.) This is a fine example of Lincoln's legal work from his early years riding the Illinois circuit in a series of pleas and an affidavit submitted as a defense attorney with his law partner, Joel Seth Post. The suit stems from Whitley allegedly not paying an agreed sum to Austin, and the dispute was eventually settled in arbitration. Each section is signed by Lincoln at the conclusion as "Post & Lincoln". An exceedingly rare to find nowadays, especially since so many documents and letters are being "cut" for break up value. Cut-out words are selling for over $200 each on ...and there are about 300 words! Do the math, over $60k just in the words, plus the 5 signatures at $7k + each. Close to $100k in breakup value. Outstanding condition. Document remains clean, with very minor wear and minor separations at margins. Ink remains dark and completely legible. Please see hi-res images. Three pages, Bifolium. Measures appx 9.5" x 7.75". Comes with a JSA Letter of Authenticity. Ships via Fedex with signature required and insurance. Questions?5514863768
