Antique French Baritone Saxophone, 1870's, Feuillet & Fils, vintage silver plate
Antique French Baritone Saxophone, 1870's, Feuillet & Fils, vintage silver plate:
Very rare and collectable French Baritone saxophone made in Paris in the c1870's by Feuillet & Fils. Silver plate, tarnished in places. Generally in good condition. No mechanical damage or significant dents. Well made. It plays now as it is but will need adjustments if you want to play it professionally as there are leaks. Currently has a mixture of early white leather pads and newer brown leather pads, no resonators (as is correct for this period of early saxophone). A fascinating instrument - a museum piece! It plays with a lovely tone, quite different to more modern baritones, and a bit closer to a Bass Clarinet in sound. As is usual for a 19thC saxophone it has a playing range of low B - high Eb, and plays very close to modern pitch (certainly close enough). Old French pitch from this period is just slightly lower than our modern Low Pitch and so it is compatible. Double manual octave keys. A rare piece of saxophone history. No mouthpiece or case.
