Antique P. V. Reyes Photograph Description and Item Information Up for sale is this antique photograph by Peter Victor Reyes. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This photograph depicts the serenity of the Pacific Ocean off of the coast of Santa Catalina Island in California. The cloudy sky has patches of bright light. This black and white photo has subtle hand-colored areas. It measures approximately 5 3/4 inches by 10 inches. It would be a fine addition to a collection of antique photography. Identification Markings within the photo's negative appear at the lower left, "No 93 1913 By P. V. Reyes Avalon Cal." Peter Victor Reyes (1875-1950) was a well-known photographer on Santa Catalina Island. Per Islapedia, he had an art and curio store on Crescent Avenue in Avalon, California, and he was the fourth mayor of that town. In 1915, he became one of twelve original members of the Santa Catalina Island Twenty-Five Year Club. His photography appears in Zane Grey's 1919 book, Great Game Fishing in California. Examples of Reyes' work is in the Santa Catalina Island Museum. Condition This photo looks very good overall, as shown. It has no creases, rips, or holes. When viewed at an angle, some light and fine scuffs / scratches can be seen. The back side is as shown.
