Benazir Bhutto gift to Journalist at United Nations (Inlaid marble plate):
$10000.00

Gift from The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto. This marble inlaid plate was given as a gift to me while I was working at the United Nations in New York. The Prime Minister was giving an interview to the B.B.C. (British Broadcasting Company) in 1993. After the interview the Prime Minister signaled her assistant to give out these gifts to us. One of the gifts was a small silver \"sugar\" bowl and I received the stone plate. I was honored by the gift and by her gracious demeanor. I am offering this item for sale. 100% of the proceeds (minus fees) will be donated to charity. It will be split between a charity that supports the welfare of school age children in Pakistan and another charity dedicated to solving many of the current problems plaguing humanity. I know that the Prime Minister was a polarizing historical figure, but I hope to return the gift back to the children of Pakistan and help solve many of the tougher crisis facing the human race. The 10\" stone plate comes with the gift card that reads, \" With the compliments of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto Islamic Republic of Pakistan\" and a portion of the wrapping paper the gift came in. The plate sits in a hunter green velvet box. The item is a fairly common marble plate but seldom do you see an item that was associated with an historic figure like The Prime Minister. The world has seen so much violence and change since Benazir Bhutto was assassinated. There needs to be healing and empathy for much of the world\'s children living in poverty. We must see that future generations have hope and that they be given the opportunities that empower humans to live better lives. I will be investigating the best children\'s charity in Pakistan (At this moment I have not decided) Please send me an email if you have an opinion in which one can be trusted to help the most children. I will be listing the decision with an update to this post. Your purchase of this item will come with supporting documents which I can supply you to ensure the provenance of the item. I will be happy to have a third party authentication if necessary. I believe that real change must start with us. Each individual doing something, anything, to make the world a safer and more equitable home for the millions of humans born into poverty. Poverty is slavery, in my opinion. A destructive cycle that almost never has a good outcome. NOTE: I do not have any opinions on The Prime Minister. My job was to report what was the daily news at the United Nations. Most of our day was spent waiting for the assembly to adjourn and getting a quote for the evening news. My job was to stay neutral, get the story and make sure it made it back to where it would be edited and broadcast. I do not have any opinions about the United Nations either. I attended many aspirational meetings there, but have not seen as much positive change necessary to ensure future generations will live healthy, secure, empowered lives. There is work to be done, now, not later. Thank you for visiting this site. I will be posting more historical items from my collection as a documentary filmmaker. I will be using ALL proceeds to try and make any difference I can.
