C1930 Old Photo Album India Delhi Agra Fatehpur Sikri Cairo Holy Men Bombay:
Photograph album containing views of India, Egypt and Greece c1920s or 1930s Album of photographs, 11x15 inches, containing 76 photographs mounted with corners to both sides of 12 leaves. Some with captions written on the pages. Most photographs 4x6 inches, a few smaller. All photographs very good. Front cover of the album is missing; this is likely only a portion of the original album. No date given. The traveling party is only identified with first names. **The photographs are very bright and clear, better than my photos/scans. Fifty-six photographs are identified as India; eight are of Egypt; five are of Athens, Greece; and thirteen are of an unidentified Southeast Asian country – possibly also India, or Malaysia or Ceylon. Some of the India photographs are captioned. Images include harvesting bananas, a local market, elephants in a river, monks, two fakirs on a bed of nails, views of Bombay including Bombay Gate, The Qutub Minar, native carts, temples and holy men at Benares, the Fort at Agra, views of the Taj Mahal, several views of the traveling party, views of Fatehpur Sikri, street scenes, and Indians bathing at Varanasi. The Cairo images – Egyptian women riding on a cart, an Egyptian funeral procession, the Pyramids, street vendors, the Citadel – and, at Athens, view of the Acropolis. **For a link to more images, contact me.
