In this historic 1963 original photo from the archives of The Detroit Press, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. leads an estimated crowd of 125,000 civil rights activists down Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit during the historic "Walk to Freedom." Rev. C.L. Franklin, Walter Reuther, Rev. Albert Cleage and Mayor Jerome Cavanagh are all in view. This march led to Cobo Hall where King debuted his iconic "I have a dream” speech, and paved the way for the "March on Washington” two months later. This extremely rare historic photo has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA for preservation. Comes with an official LOA signed by PSA authenticator Henry Yee. The "Walk to Feedom” official program is not included and is shown only for reference to the historic event.
