TO LEARN ABOUT THIS AMAZING NAVAJO ARTIST,PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF PAGE!**********************SONORAN TURQUOISE:Since Sonoran turquoise made it\'s grand entry from Mexico into the USA,it has done nothing but take the USA by storm with it\'s increasing popularity not only among southwest jeweler\'s,but buyers as well who are thirsty to get their hands on any jewelry made with it! And when you see the color it produces, you will then understand why it\'s so much in demand! It has a color that literally melts your heart & is so breathtakingly green! Sonoran is unique for it\'s wide variety of colors that it produces,as well as a wide range of matrix patterns & colors..Very similar to Nevada\'s Royston mine,it produces both green\'s & blue\'s.
These particular cuts are some of the best quality coming out of the mine & have an unmatched intensity where the green is so green & heavily saturated ..If you love green turquoise over blue, you will LOVE the color of these cuts!!!**********************THE BOLO:I have to admit that anything that Leon makes, has everything we look for when it comes to \'finer\' Navajo jewelry..At it now for decades, this artist comes from an era where you are guaranteed to get a piece that will be made with the highest grade/quality stones available to the market & that stays in balance with his phenomenal heavy gauge metal work! This western bolo is the perfect example of this & \'oozes\' a undeniable traditional Navajo feel.
Made of super heavy 8 gauge sterling,Leon used 4 different stamps to create this artistically created concho. By tooling each pattern side by side, they seem to take on their own design! Pounding through metal this heavy & to be this accurate with every strike,is truly impressive, when you figure how each stamp has to be in the right spot in the metal & if the artist is off in any way, the whole design is a mess.
The domed concho slips through a hefty 9 mm round black braided leather strap & the design is finalized with 2-3/4\" long sterling tips that have a sterling bead on the tip. The leather is threaded though loops on the backside that allow it to adjust..(See photo 8) The Concho\'s finishing is what is called a \"Vintage Revival\" finishing & the oxidation is left deep within the stampwork to accentuate the design.
Being a cowboy himself, you won\'t find a better artist than Leon, who instinctively knows what men want!************************ARTIST: Leon MartinezTRIBE: NavajoMETAL: Sterling SilverMETAL FINISHING: Vintage Revival-OxidizedSTONE: Natural Premium Green Sonoran Gold TurquoiseCUTS: Ovals-Tear DropCONCHO MEASUREMENT: About 3-3/8\" to 3-1/2\" X 2-3/4\" WideWEIGHT: 160 Grams-5.7 OuncesLEATHER STRAP DIAMETER: 9 mmLEATHER COLOR: BlackBOLO STRAP LENGTH: 21-1/2\" (Measured on one side only-Then Double this number)-43\" TotalTECHNIQUE: Hand Made from beginning to end!HALLMARK: ”Sterling”-Leon M.T.Z (On backside bottom of concho)Comes Gift Boxed**********************SIGNATURE REQUIREMENT:***Because of the price, this will have a mandatory signature confirmation requirement. If you\'re not home in the day & need it shipped where it can be signed for, please change that in your \"Ship To\" section before I create the shipping label*************************PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASINGUnless the Bolo is defective(Which it isn\'t),there is now a 3% charge that will be taken out from the total price you paid,if there is return. This applies to buyer\'s remorse, too light, too heavy,don\'t like it,too big,too small, etc. This is one good reason why you should go over measurementsbeforepurchasing & readallthe detail I provided you with & ask any questions/concerns you may havebeforehand. So please go over everything in order to avoid a return & hurting others chances of possibly wanting to buy this.THE REASON:All credit card/merchant service companies changed their policies & are now charging the seller this 3% for any & all charge Note:I am not a professional photographer, but I do try to do my best at giving you accuracy in color. To give you close up photos, pictures tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality. Close up\'s make the item look so large & then you get it in hand & you are shocked since the item is much smaller than how they looked in the photos.***********************ABOUT THE ARTIST:Nothing can be said about Leon without mentioning something about his family ties.
1st influenced by their mother & father,(who were also artists) Leon\'s immediate siblings happen to be \"CALVIN,RICK & TERRY MARTINEZ\" & his sister is the well known \"READDA BEGAY\" who is married to Ernest Begay Sr.(another well known, sought after artist) Leon is also the cousin of the late & much missed artist \"KIRK SMITH\"..Each of these family members are sought out for their unique traditional Navajo jewelry they bring to the table & you can see many similarities in their work.
It was the late \"HARRY MORGAN\" however who taught Leon just like he did Kirk Smith & who laid the path & taught him a lot of the ropes about how to give Navajo jewelry a look as if the piece was made from decades ago. Harry was the 1st that brought Navajo jewelry to the market as if it was made in the 40’s & was the one who was also responsible for giving the sterling those heavily oxidized finishing’s that are now known as \"Vintage Revival\" as if the piece is aged. This is the style of jewelry that Leon has continued making & you\'ll find in every piece made..Never will you see in his pieces, high polished contemporary finishes with the sterling.
What you\'re going to get in Leon\'s jewelry are time consuming made pieces, where they\'re made with precision& excellence & where literally everything that\'s apart of the piece,is still done with the power of the hand, just like his ancestors did..Everything will be made from scratch, with nothing being used by pre-made commercial manufactures.. He\'s all about using heavier gauge sterling, using only the highest quality natural stones available on the market & then each are hand finished in a \"Vintage Revival\" style finished sterling..
Earning ribbons at the Navajo Nation Fair in Window Rock, AZ & Gallup Ceremonial, his work also has been featured in the highly read \"Cowboys & Indians\" magazine & his jewelry exhibited in Museums..I am extremely proud to bring an artist of this magnitude to you, where you will experience what traditional \"Fine\" Navajo jewelry really feels like, with unmatched superb quality throughout! Leon\'s work is highly collectible & demands top dollar.
