The only known period photo of its kind, of any type, taken on that sad day & time of 4/4/68 headlining the initial news report of Martin Luther King, Jr assassination at the time it happened. This is a significant MLK photo being a “time capsule” with caption detailing his wife, Mrs. King, immediate actions after knowing about her husband’s death. The photo was taken by UPI on 4/4/68, and date stamped the next day clearly on the back “APR 5 1968” by the Sun-Times in order to be used in their daily newspaper. PSA/DNA Type 3 with “MLK SHOT” identified on the label.
