This is an 18th century Catholic Bronze sculpture of the Madonna the virgin Mother Mary of the Immaculate Conception of Christ, where the Madonna is often depicted standing over the Moon, which is a symbol for purity, as it is for goddess Diana. Hand made by an exceptional Italian master art craftsman, extremely rare, perhaps even one of a kind since I have never yet encountered another. The Madonna stepping over the snake, as it is here, is symbolic for her being pregnant with Jesus Christ, since the snake symbolizes temptation and evil, and therefor the whole sculpture represents the Immaculate Conception. It is a rare piece by subject matter. The height of the sculpture is approximately 26.35 cm. No refunds so serious buyers only please.
