Ross expresses his regretthat his correspondent ‘cannot go on with the portrait which you weredrawing of me’ and hopes that her health will improve, adding ‘A Lady –Miss Peggy Smith – made a sketch of me a few days ago which she seems to like,and which I think is good enough’.
