Water kiosks and fountains beautifying the streets of Istanbul have a particular place in Istanbul's culture of peaceful coexistence. Fountains and water kiosks fulfilling the domestic water requirements of residents of nearby houses and passers-by are humane, tangible symbols of the coexistence notion lying at the heart of Istanbul's culture.
One of the exteriors of the Pasacesmesi Vase uses stylized abstractions of the spout detail of the Hasan Paşa Fountain (1723, Eyüp district) and the ornamental edges of the Gülnus Emetullah Valide Sultan Fountain (1709, Üsküdar district). The Pasacesmesi Vase is handmade glass and the embossed patterns adorning the piece were made using 24K handcrafted gilding. The miniature fountain figures and the window network on both sides of the vase were handcrafted from bronze metal.
