ABOUT THIS IMAGE:(Please note print does not come framed or mounted as above - image is for demonstration of look if framed) Taken on assignment in Egypt this iconic image of Chephren's Pyramid was shot at midday on the Winter Solstice in 1989. The elements in this stunning image were totally 'given' me. Since I rarely almost never use filters or SFX lenses all that you see here was discovered when we printed from the negative in the darkroom (remember those?). The sun is known to be the representation of the masculine principle, Chephen is taken as the representation of the feminine principle within the three pyramids. At this auspicious moment the sun impregnates with the sword of truth the feminine. When these two principles are aligned/balanced only then can transformation happen. Transformation is represented by the display of a thirteen pointed mandala emanating from the sun. Thirteen in numerology is known to represent transformation. Thus this gifted image offers a huge relational meaning to the owner. In the mid 70s I moved from the frying pan press into the fire of the advertising industry, becoming one of the leading photographers working for major ad agencies, blue chip corporations and traveling the world executing varied and challenging briefs. I have exhibited in London, Amsterdam, France and Tokyo. Commissioned/exhibited by Kodak, Minolta, Mamiya and Ilford to head up workshops on the medium and my own areas of specialty, I was also a leading foundation member of the AOP, Association of Photographers. As part of a select group of 6 who steered new rights for creative artists and copyright in the mid1990s I am proud to have assisted in aiding making changes to the law for all creative visual artists. Through the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s I worked for many blue chip companies and corporations including British Airways, BMW, Piaggio, Gallaher Group, Chivas Regal, Times Newspaper Group, Marks and Spencer, Citygroup, Fujitsu, Kodak, British Petroleum, Wimpey, Balfour Beatty, Ford Motor Company, American Express, Nestlé, Sony, Proctor and Gamble, Johnson and Johnson and many others. I have appeared on TV and radio including the BBC, France Inter and online radio. I have been invited to speak at creative and literary conferences across the globe including a recent UNESCO sponsored international conference in Ankara Turkey. For the majority of my professional career I worked in partnership with Gene Nocon, one of the foremost and most well known photographic printers of the industry. Together we have worked on a multitude of projects, one being a project for a member of the Royal Family and I have also contributed towards Gene's own industry busting creations. Having in the late eighties been part of a small team that brought the 3-D photographic brilliance of French inventor Pierre Bonnet to the world, I embark again into a new technological era with my world tour (2019-2025) - incorporating both virtual and real presence delivering seminal, instructive and fascinating insights and stories behind my images. Billed as "Shoot Learn Grow - An Evolutionary Journey - Life Lessons through The Lens", I share how one person's life experiences, in this case a photographer, illustrates how each and every one of us is given multitudes of opportunity for growth, learning and evolving our being.
