What an absolute treasure!!! SO very very rare ~ This incredible antique indigo blanket stopped me in my tracks! The weight, the handwoven texture, and that stunning red trim ~I\'ve never found one of these amazing textiles in this wonderful antique condition! This blanket was hand woven in the 1700\'s or very early 1800\'s ~ it’s one of those rare, soulful textiles that just feels important. The base is a deeply toned indigo blue, beautifully mottled and timeworn, with a soft, nubby weave that speaks to its age and authenticity. It’s entirely handwoven—r—and at some point around 1870, the beautiful red woven trim was added, bringing in a joyful burst of color and contrast.It’s hard not to fall in love with pieces like this… made with so much care and then used and treasured for generations. Whether draped on a bed, hung on the wall, or used as a large table textile, it brings depth, history, and that lived-in French farmhouse feeling we all adore. The reverse side is just as beautiful, showing old joins and incredible signs of handwork.Antique textiles carry stories. If you look closely, there are many clues of the lives that came before us, making them wonderful heirloom treasures to be cherished and passed down for generations. This lovely textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. Please use the zoom feature to view the exact condition. For it\'s age and use, it\'s in remarkable condition however Signs of time and use are often inherent in these wonderful antique textiles ~ there are small spots, some areas of light wear, and hand-stitched joins visible. There are some small paint marks ~ the back is darker than the front, which tells me it was once used probably as a bed cover ~ These condition \"flaws\" are an essential part of each antique textile—they tell the story of a life well-lived, cherished by many before us, and add to its unique charm and authenticity.
