CIVIL WAR SONG MANUSCRIPT
Judson McCoy
The Star Spangled Banner
The Battle Cry of Freedom
The Sword of Bunker Hill
The Poor Old Slave
Nelly Gray
Historic handwritten book. About 6.5 x 8 inches, 38pp. Signed with an inscription inside front board - A.P. Rodgers, inside back board is more faded writing from Harvey Rodgers of Good Hope. On front blank, at top (bottom torn off), signed by Judson McCoy/Good Hope/Lafayette City Ohio/...1869. 1st Lt. Judson McCoy was the commander of Company A, 54th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Zouaves. McCoy fought at the Battle of Shiloh and the Siege of Corinth as a corporal. The entire Star Spangled Banner is here and other important songs (more than listed at top). Worn, some staining and toning, one leaf missing bottom corner, some leaves seemingly torn out at rear. But what has remained sings loudly and intriguingly of the Civil War. One-of-a-kind rarity.
