This envelope is signed in red crayon by Joseph Stalin (1878-1953).
The envelope is addressed to the Soviet revolutionary and political leader in Kremlin, Comrade Stalin, and stamped in 1944.
The stamp from WW2, color blue with a soldier from the air force, was probably first printed in 1939. See photos.
According to books about the dictator, Stalin used to sign envelopes and documents as a proof that he had read the communications. He was known for using his red, blue and green crayon. On documents he often added a short message, or a yes or no to the content.
The autograph is clear and in good condition.
A Stalin-signature is rare. This envelope comes from a private collection in Russia and it is said that this item, along with several documents, was part of Stalin\'s personal archive. I cannot confirm this independently but having two other items from this batch, with historic details, makes me confident this is authentic. I encourage potential buyers to do research about Stalin\'s signing habits and discussions about fake/fraud signatures.
