Thissize # 1 Shaker Oval Box is handmade following time honored Shaker box-making methods. After producing the bands, the bands are soaked in hot water then bent around a wooden form. After removal from the form, the swallow-tail fingers are secured to the band with copper tacks. Shapers are then placed inside the box to hold the shape while the band dries. After drying, the Quilted Maple top and cherry bottom are carefully fitted into place and secured with wooden pegs and the handle attached.

The box is finished with a clear finish and lacquer and wax top coat. The box is a size #1 which isapprox. 4 1/2 inches long x 2 3/4 incheswide x 1 1/2 inches deep.
