PRESCRIPTION FOR SPIRITS

This is a Beautiful and Little Known Piece of US History. Its funny how different intoxicants in our country are treated in such different ways. Its Great in my Opinion that in this day and age, 15+ states have given those with a PROVEN Medical Necessity the right to FIGHT to get Medical Cannabis. BUT , On the very first day of National Alcohol Prohibition, there was a Provision in the law that allowed people to get a prescription from their doctor for MEDICAL Alcohol. At first they were normal white Prescriptions but as people got smart, the US Treasury Started printing hard to Duplicate forms such as this one.

These are Original Alcohol Prescriptions that were issued for Spirits Frumenti, the US pharmaceutical term for Whiskey, by the James Pharmacy on Light St in the Federal Hill Section of Baltimore in 1922.

You have two unique prescriptions, one from 1921 on plain paper measuring 3-1/2\" x 6\", then once people wised up and started to conterfietthem, they changed toprinting them on check paper with water marks on the back that say: \"PROHIBITION\" to avoid counterfeiting.This second one from 1922measures 4-1/4\" X 6-1/2\"

We originally found a handful of these. All have a center hole punched in them from being placed on the letter holder at the Pharmacy once filled.

The books were issued by, and reads:
Treasury Department U.S. Internal Revenue
Prescription Blank-National Prohibition Act

These particular prescriptions are datedMay 11th,1921 & Oct 9th, 1922.
They come from Book No.29099 & A 6371with Blank No.57 and 61.

MdArchitectural Rescue is a different type of recycling company. We have operated in Baltimore and surrounding areas since 1996. After starting out rescuing fireplace mantles and cast iron door locks from construction dumpsters, we have opened our eyes to may types of waste that are often over looked and fall through the cracks. Our focus is and always will be vintage items of the highest quality. But with our eyes now open we put a lot of effort in bringing you high end collectibles from every industry available and at a very reasonable price. All our items are salvaged and are for the most part American Made. One week we could be in an old School, Brewery, Factory, and the following weekat a Shipyard or Power plant, you just never know. Also, one day we may be removing Vintage lighting, the next day Signs and Vintage blueprints and the following day cleaning out a machine shop or high end parts room.
