We offer for sale three vintage woodcarvings of Chinese children. A boy andgirl sleep on melons (good luck symbols).The third figure (boy? man?) wears robes and is kneeling. Lots of details (cute toes) and expressions. The underlying wood grain shows beneath, with thousandsof little dots that add texture and appeal.
Painted in muted pastels with a lighttouch of whitewash overall that accentuates carved lines. Carved all around. Bottoms unmarked. Finish shows a soft sheen. Moderately heavy for size.

Girlon melon: 6-1/2 inches high, 9 incheslong, 4 inches deep
Boyon melon: 5-1/2 inches high, 9 incheslong, 4 inches deep
Kneelingfigure: 9-1/4 inches high, 4 incheswide, 3-1/2 inches deep
Total weight, unpacked. Over 4 pounds.
Maker and precise age unknown. Likely later in the 1900s.
Condition is excellent without wearor damage EXCEPT the kneeling figure lacks one nostril (chipped). A touch of paint would make this invisible.
