This is a high quality commercially manufactured broken case remover for the .303 British.It is a close copy of the military one that came in the Bren Gun maintenance Kit.

A broken case with the head extracted and the body and neck left in the chamber is not an uncommon occurrence in the .303 especially with the rear locking Lee Enfield action and in cases that have been reloaded a number of times. This tool is just inserted into the chamber like a normal cartridge and the tip will grip the broken case while the rifle\'s extractor will remove the tool.

Shooters should always have one of these in their range bag while hunters should carry one as a broken case in the field can really spoil a trip. I keep mine in the stock bolt recess under the butt plate of my SMLE Sporter so I know I always have it. I have heard of shooters of sporting rifles drilling a hole under the buttplate just big enough to accommodate a tool so it\'s always there.
