vintage Impressionist Oil Painting of a group of native peasants harvesting perhaps rice - quite a few people are working with a couple of buildings on both sides and the Javanese Mountains: a rather engaging scene -- signed H. Banadji: I believe a listed and somewhat noted mid century Indonesian Artist --likely circa 1940s/\'50s period-- notation on the back of the wood frame reads: \'G. Malabar\'-likely this scene is from the Malabar region of Java, and the backdrop is possibly Mount Malabar-- painted on stretched canvas in an Indonesian style wood frame -- painting measures about 24 by 35 1/4 in.-frame is 28 3/4 by 40 in.--we are listing a similar painting by this artist--
some wear: two small areas with paint loss: one on the hills/one on a straw pile-a few smaller nicks - light overall soiling -- old moisture stain on the back of the canvas.
