A nice assortment of seven (7) unusual different beautifully made waistcoat or weskit buttons from the Victorian era
c. 1840\'s-1860\'s. There is a molded black glass cameo of a helmeted warrior, a cobalt blue dome in a fancy gilded rim, a black & white striped paper under a molded six (6) panel faceted hexagonal pyramid, a clambroth glass dome with beaded border in a fancy gilded mount, an early clear crackle glass in a wide banded brass mount, an opaque deep green glass with swirls of opaque white glass and goldstone/aventurine and a beautiful red glass nipple button with a dotted glass rim set in a very fancy brass & blackened brass mounting. Five are made with unpainted tin backs with small wire loop shanks. Two are with brass backs and brass loop shanks. The black and white striped one and the green with white and goldstone are back marked Feine Qual. signifying German manufacture. The largest (the cameo) measures 10/16ths inch in diameter. The smallest (the cobalt blue glass) measures 7/16ths inch in diameter; the blue glass dome is very high for the button and the color is intense cobalt blue. The others all measure 1/2 inch in diameter. All buttons are in excellent condition. The buttons have not been cleaned or polished. I leave that decision to the new owner.
