CHARMING, HAND-MADE ENGLISH ANTIQUE PEWTER TEAPOT!
Made in Sheffield, England by Broadhead & Company between 1853and 1900.
Considered \"Bachelor\" size, holding 2 pints. I filled it with water and it held 4 cups, 1 quart US, with NO leaks.
COMPLETELYUSEABLE!
The style is a \"plain round bellied\" teapot
Hinged dome lidwith the original black wooden finial on the top
Thehandle is an \"insulated handle with thumb piece.\" Handle is original black wood and it is worn in some places.
It has a curved spout and sits on a \"collet foot,\" which is another name for a metal band.
The dimensions are:
5.25\" Tall, Main Body, To The Top Of The Lid (Finial)5.75\" Tall At Maximum Height (To The Tip Of Curve In The Thumb Piece)3.75\" Base Diameter (Collete Foot Diameter)Measures 10.5\" From Tip Of Spout To Back Of Black Wooden HandleWeighs 1 Pound 2 Ounces (18 Ounces), Not Including PackingOn the bottom of the base, it is stamped \"BROADHEAD & CO SHEFFIELD\" followed by the number 345.
There also are stamped the numbers \"1\" and \"4\".
From my research, Ibelieve the stamps mean the following:
Pattern # 345
Capacity \"4\" = Meaning FOUR GILLS (The British Imperial unit of measurement used during the 1800\'s )
AND\"1\" Representing the Workman\'s NumberPLEASE STUDY ALL THE PICTURES AS THEY ARE PART OF THIS COLLECTIBLE\'S DESCRIPTION. LOW LEVEL LIGHTING WAS REQUIRED DURINGPHOTOGRAPHY TO SHOW THE DENTS DUE TO THE REFLECTIVE NATURE OF METAL.
Note the condition of this antique piece, it is dented and well worn from decades of use. Please see thedarkened patina. This condition is notusual for a piecethat was made in the 1800\'s. I hope to find a Buyer who can appreciate the personality and character of this charming teapot!
