Antique Chinese Export Encre de Chine mythological plate painted en grisaille with remnant gilt accents in the Jesuit Ware style with mythological figure of either Hera or Juno. I have seen this figure described as both Hera and Crowned Juno who I believe are one and the same depending on your view of Classical ancient mythology. She is painted with an absolutely beautiful majestic appearance befitting her regal position. Note the depiction of her adorable little feet and toes...a rarity in Chinese porcelain who almost always never show female feet in any shape or form. Her head is crowned and she is gazing intently and lovingly at her pet peacock who reciprocates by exhibiting his own crested feathered coronet. A nice scene.....I like and think you will too. Circa 1745. Please note the border is very similar to one sold Sotheby\'s from the Private Collection of Elinor Gordon 23 January 2010 Lot 258.The border is exquisite and retains much original gilt.The rim in overall very good condition with a few very tiny scattered flea bite frits. The figures in center are moderately worn from age and normal use. There is an star hairline to center back bottom visible with careful examination by the naked eye....it appears to go thru as shown with blacklight but otherwise very unobtrusive. Please examine all photos. Measures approximately 9 inches in diameter.
