This is a beautiful antique sterling silver Victorian circa 1890 Scottish agate and Cairngorm citrine brooch. PLEASE NOTE: There is no damage to the stones the strange light on the bottom right stone is just a reflection in the light box.I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The lovely selection of stones are gold and mustard agates from Burn Anne in Ayrshire, green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum and grey banded agates from Montrose. The central facetted stone is a stunning golden citrine from the Cairngorm mountain range which has been fully tested by a local jeweller to confirm it is a genuine citrine.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for brooches of this period, but has been fully tested and is sterling silver.The length is 3.3 cm ( One and a third inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original. The brooch has it\'s original loop on the back to fit a safety chain.
