C. 1800 Alencon - Argentan handmade needle lace lappets with frill COLLECT COST:
$295.00

Rare to find lappets with attached frill. Design is tiny motifs typical of the end of the 18t and beginning of the 19th Century.

Frill section is continuous with the lappets, apparently made at the same time.

Mesh is a hybrid of Alencon/ brides tortilees, or a mesh with all sides wrapped with thread, and an Argentan mesh, where the sides are covered with buttonhole stitches. In this case, they are somewhat irregular, some wrapped, some buttonholed. In any case, the mesh appears very precise and meticulously shaped hexsgons - the detail requires high magnification to see.

Length of each lappet section is 22 inches, frill center length is about 32 inches, total about 76 inches.

Overall very good condition.
