Presented is without doubt the best quality and prettiest CHINESE EXPORT SILVER TEA SET I have seen in a very long while. Made by WANG HING c.1890 and weighing 53 troy ounces (1643 grams).

The tea set is 6sided and each side has a different finely applied scene :

1. A BIRD PERCHED IN A PLUM BLOSSOM TREE

2. A BIRD FLYING ABOVE CHRYSANTHEMUM PLANTS

3. 2 BIRDS PERCHED IN A TREE

4. A BIRD PERCHED IN A BAMBOO TREE

5. A FIERCE FIRE BREATHING, FULL BODIED DRAGON

6. REEDS AND FLOWERS

A nice feature is that no scene is repeated twice, so each piece (teapot, covered sugar and creamer) has a variation of the scenes mentioned.

The handles are all bamboo form. The teapot lid and covered sugar lid have an applied cast dragon face. They also have 6 panels of applied floral decoration. There is a heavy beaded border on all 3 pieces.

THIS IS A SUPERB SET OF EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY AND DESIGN. THE PIECES ARE WELL PROPORTIONED AND A GOOD SIZE.THE TEAPOT IS APPROX 10\" (25.5CM)END OF HANDLE TO TIP OF SPOUT AND STANDS OVER 7\" (17.5CM)HIGH. THE SET WEIGHS AN INCREDIBLE 53+ TROY OUNCES (1643 GRAMS).

The tea set is of the finest quality WANG HING produced. The teapot and creamer have clear WH, 90 and CHINESE CHARACTERS. The sugar bowl is not marked but is 100% original to the set. All 3 pieces also have an old French import mark.

The CONDITION is EXCELLENT with exceptionally crisp detail throughout.NO damage or repairs whatsoever and a lovely old patina.

THE PICTURES ARE NOT GOOD AT ALL. THE COLOUR APPEARS DULL - THIS IS NOT THE CASE. THE TEA SET IS MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN REAL LIFE (DULL BRITISH WEATHER AND A RUBBISH CAMERA IS MY EXCUSE).
