Royal Copenhagen, Denmark - sweet littleGrey MOUSE,snacking on SUGAR CUBES

The Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory was established May 1, 1775. From the start, RC marked their products with three wavy lines. They symbolize Denmark\'s three bodies of water, The Sound, The Great Belt, and The Little Belt. They are particularly well known for their annual Christmas plates, which began in 1908.

This adorable piece was created by artist ERIK NIELSEN(1857-1947).He had been trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts from 1885-1886, and immediately become his career with Bing & Grohdahl. But after only one year, he moved to the Royal Copenhagen. During his 40 years there, he became head of the modeling department, working as sculptor on MANY animal figures. His INITIALS are incised into a sugar cube!
