ARTIST\'S DESCRIPTION OF recurring theme of my rock and roll icon art workKata\'s ROCK and ROLL art website is the brief lifespan of fame in any person\'s life. Warhol said it was fifteen minutes. For Elvis- it\'s been quite a bit longer. For Bettie- she still lives on as a sex icon (even though many people don\'t realize she joined a convent in her later years...). Bettie was one of the first vixens to appear in American sex magazines. She sewed her own faux leopard skin bikinis and other fetish like outfits. In this scenario from my imagination Elvis has taken a small piano gig just because he heard Bettie would be judging a look-alike contest in some little bar. The point is that NONE of the women resemble Bettie at all- but Elvis keeps turning his head around-scanning the stage for the real Bettie Page -and meanwhile she is perched on top of a jute box right behind Elvis. She stares at him like a cat- calm and calculating and ready to strike.... The thought bubble over Elvis\' head reads:...\"I WISH I\'d looked at her FACE in those magazines...\" Obviously this is a comical view at what I consider a serious plague of sorts- (the objectifying of women). What does that mean? Well, in short it means that SOME men tend to look at body parts on women- (breasts, feet, pubes, legs, etc. and not AT the whole woman). I think this is mainly the fault of the porn industry - and its cultural warp. ON a LIGHTER NOTE: I enjoyed painting the women who entered this mythical look alike contest from my imagination. They all WANT to be super sexual (like Bettie). ---and I think most women Do....One of the women in my painting I created to be an \"amazon\" (like me) -very big and tall. Her hand made bullet bra and boots have little spikes attached. The one on the far left looks very innocent and has bad teeth, etc. With all my bitching and moaning about the sex trade - this painting is ALSO a LIGHTHEARTED peek backwards -at a time when there existed a more innocent age.I love the simple innocence of the whole sexuality and flirtation \"dance\" between men and women. I read an article once about scientists discovering that in every culture - a man or woman raising their eyebrows at one another signifies sexual interest. There is also an autobiographic element to this piece (which occurs in much of my rock and roll icon work)

The theme of women in strip clubs fascinates me and has since my early twenties.

For a solid year I painted risque paintings for the colorful character who owned THE COPA.

I currently create three categories of work.

This listing is category 3

a hand painted VERSION of my work

DIMENSIONS of ART WORK and FRAME: 12\" x 14\" framed

1. PRIMARY ORIGINALS. These works are sought after by serious Collectors of my work. I create only ten to twenty pieces in this category per year. PRIMARY ORIGINALS are often my largest and most intensive works. They can take me weeks or even months to create.2. REPLICA ORIGINALS. These are entirely hand painted Versions of certain Primary Originals (which are similar but in no way identical to the Primary Originals which they emulate). Ethically, technically and in every way these pieces are also Original Paintings. These pieces require weeks for me to complete.3. VERSIONS OF WORK. These pieces are ethically technically legally (and in every way) Original Paintings. The demand for them arose when Patrons admired previously sold PRIMARY or REPLICA ORIGINAL pieces and wanted something similar but not necessarily as expensive. In some ways these are my most unique works. I typically spend a week, two weeks or even longer on each piece. They often have very unusual frames which I embellish with one-of-a-kind mattes and vintage objects de\' art and unusual titles. Please see the individual listings (look at the bottom of the listing) for complete TECHNICAL descriptions. And feel free to contact me with any questions.
